Bind up their wounds (Psalms 147:3)

「He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.」 (Psalms 147:3)
Meaning:
To bind up one's wounds is to heal one's physical or inner pain and sorrows.
Origin and Application:
This is taken from a psalm of praise. The writer offers his praises to the Lord who heals and gives peace to those who are wounded by their sins.
Binding wounds came to mean trying to put the bad experiences behind us. One of the best-known use of this phrase in this context is 「bind up the nation's wounds」, by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, who in his second inaugural address, said: 「With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan, to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.」
